The Chartered Society of Designers
The Chartered Society of Designers is the professional body representing the interests of designers in the United Kingdom. Its function is to promote high standards of design, to foster professionalism and to emphasise designers' responsibility to society, to the client and to each other.
The Society was granted a Royal Charter in 1976. It currently represents more than 7,000 individual members and undertakes a full programme of lobbying, design promotion and conferences, awards, events and publications.
The Society was founded in 1930, and in more than six decades since has acted as a focus for the best of British design talent. Its mission remains unchanged: to provide leadership within the design profession; to set and maintain professional standards; and to demonstrate the role of design in wealth creation and improving the quality of life.
